2,200 victims to receive Rs 1.209 billion as NAB concludes a two-decade-old housing fraud case.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has allocated Rs 1.2 billion to victims of private housing schemes, as stated by a NAB spokeswoman to ARY News.

NAB Chairman Lt. Gen. (Retd) Nazir Ahmed Butt asserted that the victims were defrauded via counterfeit documents and fraudulent allotments.

He observed that a disagreement ongoing since 2006 had ultimately been resolved due to NAB’s committed efforts. The Chairman implored the public to allocate their hard-earned funds only to government-sanctioned housing initiatives.

The spokesperson detailed the allocation of cash, stating that in the initial round, Rs 341 million was disbursed to 476 beneficiaries using pay orders and online transactions.

Victims received 2.5 times their initial investment. A total of 2,200 beneficiaries would earn a cumulative amount of Rs 1.209 billion.

Concurrently, the anti-corruption agency has initiated the verification procedure for new applicants.

NAB reiterated its dedication to guaranteeing that no individual claimant is denied their proper compensation.

In acknowledgment of this exemplary accomplishment, the Chairman declared gratitude shields and Umrah packages for the pertinent NAB staff.

The agency effectively concluded the case after a 20-year endeavor by locating and reclaiming the concealed assets of the perpetrators.
