Resignations of judges could endanger the government: Aitzaz Ahsan

Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, a well-known politician and lawyer, warned Thursday that the government may be in jeopardy if judges quit.
” According to Aitzaz Ahsan, the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill’s provision that grants the president lifetime immunity from arrest and criminal prosecution should have also excluded the name of President [Asif Ali Zardari]. “I would have definitely advised the President to do so if I had known,” he continued.

Aitzaz Ahsan stated that the judiciary must adopt self-accountability because it has been undercut by its own members.

He claimed that Benazir Bhutto would not have approved of lifelong immunity for the president and would not have backed this amendment if she had been living.

Benazir consistently backed the Chief Justice’s office, Aitzaz Ahsan stated. He believed that the two judges, Justices Mansoor Ali Shah and Athar Minallah, ought to have waited rather than resigning right away.
