Punjab suffers from smog, and Lahore is the second most polluted city in the world.

Lahore has dangerous air quality and continues to hold the second position in the global pollution index, while Punjab is engulfed in deadly smog on Saturday.

According to international monitoring systems, Lahore had an AQI of 439 early in the morning, making it one of the most polluted cities in the world. The severity of the ongoing smog situation was highlighted by the province capital’s ranking of second on the worldwide pollution index.

Hazardous situations were also observed in other major Punjabi cities. Particulate matter readings in Gujranwala skyrocketed to 808, well above permissible limits. In a similar vein, Faisalabad’s AQI of 507 indicated exceptionally poor air quality, raising fresh worries about public health.

With an AQI of 519, New Delhi topped the list of the most polluted cities in the world today, closely followed by Lahore, according to the global environmental website IQAir.

Long-term health issues, respiratory ailments, and irritation of the eyes and throat can result from extended exposure to such high pollution levels, according to environmental specialists. As pollution conditions prevail throughout the region, authorities continue to advise citizens to wear masks, limit outside activity, and take precautions.
