Pakistan dismisses the unfounded declaration issued by the UN Human Rights Council.

Pakistan expressed profound concern at the unfounded and misdirected apprehensions articulated by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights concerning the 27th constitutional amendment, which was adopted by a two-thirds majority in the Pakistani parliament.

“As with all parliamentary democracies, the enactment of legislation and any constitutional amendments are solely the prerogative of the elected representatives of the people of Pakistan.” The Foreign Office Spokesperson stated on Sunday, “Democracy and democratic methods constitute the foundation of civil and political rights and must therefore be upheld.”

The constitutional modifications enacted by the Parliament of Pakistan adhered to the established procedures outlined in Pakistan’s Constitution.

“We implore the High Commissioner to honor the sovereign determinations of Pakistan’s parliament and refrain from remarks that exhibit political partiality and misinformation,” it was also declared.

The spokesperson stated that Pakistan is wholly dedicated to safeguarding, advancing, and maintaining human rights, human dignity, fundamental freedoms, and the rule of law as outlined in the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Although Pakistan acknowledges the significance of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, it is unfortunate that the statement did not accurately represent Pakistan’s perspectives and situational realities.
