Control of a fire at a Karachi clothing factory

A large fire that started at a clothing business in Karachi’s Landhi Export Processing Zone has been contained. The severity of the fire also caused the factory’s three-story building to collapse.

Speaking to the media, Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan stated that the fire was contained after the three-story factory collapsed. Inside the impacted factory, the cooling process has now started.

Humayun Khan stated that the fire incident was reported at approximately 3:00 p.m. and that the firefighters were having trouble containing the fire because the facility was storing a lot of fabric.

The Chief Fire Officer also stated that two water bowsers, one snorkel, and fourteen fire department vehicles were sent out right away due to the severity of the incident. Two firefighters were hurt during the operation, he added.

Humayun Khan added that an inquiry will be carried out to ascertain whether or not the impacted factory had fire-extinguishing equipment installed.
