On the anniversary of his martyrdom, military leadership honors Major Muhammad Akram

On the 54th anniversary of Nishan-e-Haider laureate Major Muhammad Akram’s sacrifice, the Pakistani military leadership honored him on behalf of the country’s armed forces.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, and Field Marshal Asim Muni, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), solemnly commemorated the martyrdom anniversary.

In 1971, Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed showed remarkable bravery and perseverance while commanding a company of the 4 Frontier Force Regiment in the Hilli area (East Pakistan).

He steadfastly maintained his defensive stance on May 19, 1971, preventing the opposition from gaining any tactical edge. He was later assigned to attack well reinforced enemy positions on December 3, 1971. During the advance, he fought bravely until he was seriously wounded, destroying three enemy tanks with unyielding determination. He embodied the greatest values of bravery and duty-driven dedication when he accepted Shahadat on December 5, 1971.

Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed’s unforgettable bravery is proof of Pakistan’s armed forces’ unwavering determination. Generations have been inspired by his sacrifice, which also serves as further evidence of our forces’ unwavering dedication to defending the motherland’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

“The Armed Forces reaffirm their commitment to honoring the memory of all martyrs who gave their life for Pakistan on this somber day. The ISPR statement stated, “The country will always be proud of its brave sons, whose sacrifices will live on in our history.”
