Balochistan is experiencing a severe cold wave as temperatures drop below freezing.

Parts of Balochistan are experiencing a severe cold spell, according to a comprehensive 24-hour weather forecast released by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Sunday.

The advice states that most districts will likely see dry, severely cold weather, with temperatures predicted to drop even further at night and in the early morning, particularly in northern areas.

According to the PMD, gloomy weather is predicted for Quetta and the nearby northwest areas. A few places, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, and Qila Saifullah, are likely to experience light rain and snowfall on the nearby hills. Travelers and locals should exercise caution as the prediction indicates that this weather pattern may enhance the cold wave across hilly areas.

Early on Saturday morning, reports of biting cold were made in a number of areas. While Kalat and Ziarat recorded –2°C, Quetta’s minimum temperature fell to 0°C. Additional temperature measurements were 3°C for Zhob, 9°C for Sibi, 14°C for Turbat, 9°C for Nokundi, and 4°C for Chaman.

Coastal areas, on the other hand, had rather pleasant weather. In Gwadar, the lowest recorded temperature was 18°C, while in Jiwani, it was 12°C.

Residents have been encouraged by authorities to take precautions against the severe cold, particularly in higher altitude places. Due to the likelihood of low temperatures throughout the night, the PMD advised the public to dress warmly and to take extra care of children and senior individuals.
