Trump’s National Guard deployment in Los Angeles is blocked by a US judge.

President Donald Trump’s plan to send National Guard troops to Los Angeles was blocked by a federal court on Wednesday, who also ordered the troops to be returned to the governor of the state.
The Trump administration argued that recent demonstrations against immigration officials constituted a rebellion that legally warranted the exceptional action of seizing federal authority of state National Guard units and deploying them into the streets, but US District Judge Charles Breyer rejected this argument.
Additionally, Breyer dismissed the administration’s argument that courts lack the ability to examine a president’s choice to assume command of state National Guard units in an emergency, arguing that this was an unduly broad interpretation of executive authority.
“Our government was intended to be a system of checks and balances by its founders. However, the defendants make it apparent that they merely want a blank check, according to Breyer.
A request for comment was not immediately answered by the White House.
