The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said in a statement that on Tuesday, customs in Balochistan confiscated drugs, vehicles, and smuggled commodities valued at Rs1.38 billion [$4.92 million].

In two distinct operations, Customs Enforcement Quetta confiscated and recovered 22.14 kg of drugs and shipments of illegal items, including betel nuts, Chinese salt, Indian pharmaceuticals, auto parts, a ROCO vehicle, and three Hino trucks, according to the FBR. It also stated that the estimated cost of all the products was Rs1.38 billion.

The southwestern Balochistan province, which borders Afghanistan and Iran, is where smuggled goods enter Pakistan.

“Legal proceedings under the Customs Act 1969 have been formally initiated, and all seized drugs, goods, and vehicles have been taken into custody.”

During a regular inspection in the FEU Zariat Cross (ZC) sector, customs officers in the first operation seized three containers. According to the FBR, the containers were being shipped from Quetta to the regions of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan.

Three Hino trucks were among the vehicles that were stopped. The smuggled goods that were hidden in the containers were found as a result of their thorough investigation.

In the second operation, with the help of the local police, employees of the Collectorate of Enforcement Customs, Quetta, stopped a ROCO vehicle near Zariat Cross.
