The President approved the de-notification of Justice Tariq Jahangiri.

President Asif Ali Zardari approved the de-notification of Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri from his position as a judge of the Islamabad High Court, following the Prime Minister’s recommendation.

Following the President’s consent, the Ministry of Law and Justice has issued a notification officially de-notifying Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri as a judge of the Islamabad High Court.

The de-notification has been given in accordance with the Islamabad High Court’s ruling, which deemed his judicial appointment unlawful and mandated his removal from office.

On Thursday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) mandated the dismissal of Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri in relation to the fraudulent degree issue.

A division bench, consisting of Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Azam Khan, issued the decision.

The court instructed the Ministry of Law to revoke the notification of Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri.

The court determined that Tariq Jahangiri lacked a genuine LLB degree at the time of his judicial appointment.

The ruling declared his appointment unlawful and determined that he was ineligible to occupy the position of judge.

The court granted the appeal made by Advocate Mian Dawood against Justice Tariq Jahangiri, while rejecting all pleas filed by Justice Jahangiri.
