Lawyers’ bodies are irritated by the Punjab CM’s comments criticising the LHC ruling.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s statement against the Lahore High Court’s order to halt the implementation of the Punjab Property Ownership Ordinance has been denounced by the Pakistan Bar Council, Supreme Court Bar and Punjab Bar Council. They have also urged that the speech be withdrawn.

The associations representing the attorneys released a statement here on Tuesday expressing support for Justice Aalia Neelum, the chief of the Lahore High Court.

Ahsan Bhawan of the Pakistan Bar Council stated that the LHC’s decision to halt the Property Ownership Ordinance’s execution was entirely appropriate. He also suggested that the Punjab government change its course and that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz “sense up.”

Zabihullah Nagra, the vice chairman of the Punjab Bar Council, stated that the Punjab government should halt the purported propaganda against Chief Justice Aalia Neelum and that the chief minister should revoke the statement opposing the ruling.

The Punjab government should avoid using “highhanded tactics,” according to the Lahore High Court Bar and the Lahore Bar, which also denounced the government’s remarks against the LHC CJ.

Attorneys’ associations have requested that the Property Ownership Ordinance be declared void by the Lahore High Court.
