As fog covers portions of Punjab, Sindh, and KP, motorway sections are closed.

Several motorway portions were forced to close on Thursday and Friday due to heavy fog in plain parts of Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The spokesperson for the Motorway Police stated that all traffic has been prohibited from using Motorway M1 between Swabi and Burhan, Motorway M2 between Islamabad and Lilla, Motorway M4 between Shershah and Shamkot, Motorway M5 between Shershah and Rohri, and Motorway M14 between Fateh Jang and Kot Bailian.

Additionally, heavy fog had an impact on traffic on national highways. On the Indus Highway between Sehwan and Larkana, visibility has decreased to 15 meters in several places due to heavy fog. Fog has also significantly reduced visibility on the major highway that runs from Sakrand to Mirpur Mathelo.

According to a Motorway Police representative, the closures were required to save people and property during dangerous weather.

Drivers are urged to rigorously adhere to lane discipline because authorities have cautioned that lane breaches during fog might result in serious accidents. It has been recommended that drivers use fog lights, slow down, and keep a safe distance from cars in front of them.

Travelers have been advised to choose day trips. When visibility is comparatively better, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, the Motorway Police have established safe travel times.

The public was also urged by the police to refrain from needless travel and call the Motorway helpline 130 for direction or support during disruptions caused by fog.

According to Motorway Police, in order to maintain safety and control traffic flow when weather conditions change, monitoring teams are stationed on major roads.
