ECP sets the deadline for postal ballot applications for the PP-167 by-elections on January 20.

Applications for postal ballots for the PP-167 Lahore-XXIII by-election must be submitted by January 20, 2026, according to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

According to the commission, the facility is intended to help voters who are unable to show up at voting places.

As long as they reside outside of their constituencies, government workers, military officers, and soldiers, along with their spouses and children who are registered voters, are eligible to cast postal ballots under election legislation.

If they have a national identity card with the NADRA disability logo on it, people with impairments who are unable to travel may also apply. In addition, prisoners in custody have the right to vote via mail.

Police officers who are registered voters and other officials assigned election duties by the Returning Officer have been instructed to submit their applications within three days of being appointed.

Applications must be sent to the constituency’s returning officer on the required form. Forms are available for download on the official ECP website, www.ecp.gov.pk, or can be picked up from the relevant Returning Officer.

Voters who get postal ballots will not be able to cast their ballots in person at polling places, the commission emphasized. To avoid unauthorized use of the facility, each application must also be validated by the department or office of the applicant.
