Six under-construction structures have been shut in various districts of Karachi following the Gul Plaza catastrophe.

Following the Gul Plaza disaster, the Deputy Commissioner South blocked six under-construction buildings in different parts of Karachi on Wednesday.

DC South Javed Nabi Khoso stated that the enclosed structures lacked firefighting equipment and had no safe emergency exit gates.

Javed Nabi Khoso reported that construction on 48 under-construction buildings in District South has been halted. He stated that inspections of under-construction buildings will be conducted in the first phase.

The DC South also stated that data on historic buildings missing fire protection measures is being collected, and that stern action will be taken against buildings that do not have these systems.

He stated that all assistant commissioners have been directed to expedite enforcement operations.
