Punjab police refute claims that CCD had a fake encounter.

All claims of fake encounters made by the Crime Control Department (CCD) have been rejected by the Punjab Police as unfounded and untrue.

A study filed with the Lahore High Court claims that since the CCD was established, there has been a notable decrease in crime rates, including robbery, theft, murder, and highway snatching.

According to the study, which was filed in response to a petition over alleged phony contacts, CCD operations have reduced property-related offenses by 64% in the last seven months. There was a 60% decrease in both robbery and murder instances, with reported robberies falling from 792 in 2024 to 324 in 2025.

Similar gains were seen in high-profile criminal cases: car theft decreased by 60%, vehicle snatching decreased by 64%, and highway robbery incidences decreased from 41,000 to 18,608—a 62% decrease. Additionally, the number of motorcycle snatching instances decreased by 53%, from 9,754 to 4,628. Robbery with murder cases decreased by 60%, from 170 to 96.

The report also noted that CCD operations disrupted several gangs, effectively captured Category-A fugitives and head offenders, and made sure that arrests and investigations were transparent. Ninety-six police officers were hurt and one sub-inspector was killed during these operations.

The Punjab Police stressed that CCD scrupulously follows the law and prosecutes criminals in a transparent manner, adding that all accusations making the rounds on social media were unfounded. The department’s robust accountability and disciplinary framework, which guarantees that any officer discovered breaking the law confronts severe legal and administrative repercussions, was also emphasized in the study.
