According to Karachi Police Surgeon Dr. Samia Syed, the post-mortem investigation of 67 bodies retrieved from the terrible Gul Plaza tragedy has been finished, and 16 victims have been identified thus far.
According to Dr. Samia Syed, eight victims’ identities were verified by DNA analysis, while six of the bodies found within the structure were identifiable. A national identity card was used to identify one victim, she continued, while a locket wrapped around the neck was used to identify another.
In the meantime, the governor of Sindh has called for a court investigation into the Gul Plaza catastrophe in order to assign blame.
Senior Fire Officer Zafar Khan informed the reporters separately that a fire that had resurfaced in the basement of the structure had been put out. According to him, a diesel tank that was placed on the roof had not been taken out earlier, and when it did, it caught fire, which was quickly put out.
Zafar Khan went on to say that the building’s structure has been seriously compromised. “At this point, only search efforts are in progress. Only skeletal remains are being located among the wreckage; no complete bodies are being recovered,” he stated.
Authorities are working to finish the last stage of operations, and rescue and search activities are still ongoing.
