A magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck Swat and the surrounding areas.

An earthquake registering 4.8 on the Richter scale struck Swat and surrounding regions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Thursday. Residents evacuated their homes in panic and began reciting verses from the Holy Quran. No casualties or property damage were reported in any region of Swat as a result of the earthquake.

The National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad reported that the earthquake’s epicenter was situated in the Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan, at a depth of 176 kilometers.
