President for reiterating education as a top national goal and empowering young people

In order to create a skilled, enlightened, and resilient Pakistan, President Asif Ali Zardari has called on all parties involved to reaffirm education as a national priority and to empower the youth as partners.

Pakistan’s youth are vital to the country’s future. As a country with a sizable youthful population and a rich cultural legacy, we must make sure that education fosters competence, curiosity, and character. In his remarks on the occasion of the International Day of Education, the president stated that it should empower youth to think critically, behave morally, and make constructive contributions to their communities.

“This year’s theme, “The Power of Youth in Co-Creating Education,” emphasizes the importance of recognizing young people not only as learners but also as thinkers, innovators, and responsible citizens whose ideas strengthen educational systems and democratic societies,” the president said, extending his warmest greetings to the people of Pakistan, especially the students, teachers, parents, scholars, and everyone involved in the pursuit of education and learning.

He added that in a world that is changing quickly and becoming more interconnected, education must incorporate academic excellence with practical skills, digital literacy, ethical values, and respect for diversity. The constitutional guarantee of free and compulsory education under Article 25-A reflects our shared commitment to this fundamental right.

He claimed that initiatives to advance digital learning, encourage research and innovation, and fortify higher education are a reflection of this changing worldview.

He continued by saying that initiatives like increased access to higher education, merit-based student supportPresi, and better digital access are enabling young people to participate actively in the knowledge economy.

In order to give young people employable skills and to uphold the dignity of labor, President Zardari underlined the importance of technical and vocational education and training. By aligning training with worldwide standards and educating youth for emerging technology, national skills development initiatives are creating opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship, and global participation.

According to him, “inclusive approaches that extend opportunities to women, madrassa students, and youth from underserved regions promote social cohesion and ensure that progress is shared more equitably.”

The president emphasized that when families, communities, educators, institutions, and the commercial sector collaborate and when students actively participate in creating their learning environments, education thrives.

“I hope that for many generations to come, our combined efforts will continue to advance peace, progress, and prosperity.”
