The Gul Plaza fire has claimed 71 lives.

As more human remains were found by rescue crews while continuing search efforts, the number of fatalities from Karachi’s Gul Plaza fire has increased to 71.
According to Deputy Commissioner South Javed Nabi Khoso, 71 of the 82 people who were reported missing following the Gul Plaza fire have had their bodies or human remains found, while 11 are still unaccounted for.
He stated that the search operation is anticipated to be finished tonight and that Gul Plaza has been 90% cleared.
He claimed that rescue teams were able to re-enter the higher floors of the plaza that had been affected by the fire with the aid of snorkels. The most vulnerable area of the structure has not yet been searched, though.
Dr. Summaiya Syed, a police physician, said that 16 bodies have been identified thus far. She claimed that the DNA identification procedure has become extremely difficult as a result of the bodies being severely burned.
On the other hand, the details of the families of eight victims have been finished, and the procedure of releasing compensation payments for the relatives of the deceased has begun.
The Sindh government has received the compensation cases from the Deputy Commissioner South. The Sindh government has previously declared that each deceased person’s family will receive compensation of Rs 10 million, or one crore rupees.
