The PM and President lament the deaths in the Chitral avalanche.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari have conveyed their profound sadness and grief over the loss of life caused by the avalanche in Chitral.

In their individual greetings, they prayed for the fallen souls’ ranks to be raised and offered their sincere condolences to the families of the deceased.

The President instructed federal, provincial, and municipal agencies to expedite relief efforts in the impacted areas and keep in close contact with the public in his condolence message.

The Prime Minister’s message instructed the appropriate federal rescue and relief organizations to work with the provincial government to expedite humanitarian efforts.

Following the significant snowfall, the Prime Minister also instructed the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority to keep a careful eye on the situation in the country’s mountainous areas and to work closely with pertinent agencies to address any potential catastrophes.

On Friday, an avalanche slammed the Arandu area of Lower Chitral district, killing nine members of the same family and injuring a toddler.

Nine victims—five men and four women—were found dead amid the debris, according to Rescue 1122.
