MD IMF commends economic improvements in Pakistan

Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the International Monetary Fund, commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s economic reforms in Pakistan.

Speaking to “Pakistan TV Digital” during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, she declared, “I have the utmost respect for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.”

“The Prime Minister takes Pakistan’s progress and constructive transformation seriously. Shehbaz Sharif always succeeds in his endeavors, she said.

“I greatly appreciate the seriousness of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his cabinet for Pakistan’s development and the implementation of the difficult reform agenda for Pakistan’s betterment,” she added. “We have met several times, and in the meetings, we discuss the achievement of previously set goals and new development goals.”

She claimed that the Pakistani government was actively pursuing reforms and that the IMF had been cooperating with Pakistan for a considerable amount of time.

“For the first time, budgetary discipline has been seen and resources are being spent for positive changes in the people’s lives,” she added. “The government’s actions are starting to bear fruit.”
