The Pakistan Navy salvages a Sri Lankan crew 1,500 kilometers from Gwadar.

The Pakistan Navy successfully executed a medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) of a Sri Lankan crew member from the Indonesian-flagged merchant vessel MV Grey Palm, roughly 1,500 kilometers off the coast of Gwadar.

The operation was executed in response to a request from the Sri Lankan Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC).

In response to the distress call, the Pakistan Navy deployed its vessels PNS Tabuk and PNS Moawin to the open seas for the emergency operation. The naval warships arrived at the site and successfully evacuated the ill Sri Lankan crew member.

The patient was relocated to PNS Tabuk and received prompt medical attention. The exercise underscored the Navy’s capacity to provide swift and proficient medical aid in open waters, even at considerable distances from the nation’s coastline.

The Pakistan Navy announced that it implemented synchronized maritime norms and conducted the rescue with professional proficiency. The Sri Lankan authorities and the patient’s family conveyed their appreciation for the prompt action and support.

The action underscores the Pakistan Navy’s steadfast dedication to protecting lives at sea, irrespective of country, and meeting its global obligations in marine safety.
