CM Afridi returns to KP after calling off the sit-in near Adiala jail.

Sohail Afridi, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has called off his sit-in near Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. Afridi had been protesting for hours after being refused permission to see imprisoned Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Concerned over the news regarding the PTI founder’s health, Afridi arrived in Rawalpindi to meet him at Adiala jail yesterday. He was not given the opportunity to meet the PTI supremo, though. On this, he decided to hold a sit-in near the jail.
“We will stage a sit-in tonight. The chief minister told the media in Rawalpindi on Thursday, “Our party’s MNAs and MPAs are arriving.”
“This is our leader’s matter, we will not let it go like this,” the CM added, adding that attempts are being made to purposely worsen the issue.
KP CM Afridi urged that the family members and personal doctors of the PTI founder be allowed to meet him at Adiala Jail, as the previous ruling party has voiced worries about the health of the detained former premier.
Hours after Attaullah Tarar, the minister of information, stated that the PTI founder was briefly brought to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) in response to his party’s worries, the development occurred.
According to Tarar, the PTI founder was evaluated by eye specialists at Adiala Jail, who recommended that he be moved to Pims for additional evaluation and care.
Acting on the doctors’ suggestions, the ministry added, the former premier was taken to the hospital on Saturday night.
The minister stated that he was returned to Adiala Jail with the required medical instructions after the procedure.
The communications minister highlighted that Imran’s vital signs were constant throughout the surgery and that his overall health was excellent.
“He is completely healthy,” Tarar stated, adding that all inmates have access to medical facilities and specialized care as needed, entirely in compliance with jail regulations.
His comment comes a day after local media claimed that Imran was brought to the Pims on last Saturday under strict security for a medical operation.
Citing a hospital doctor, the article reported the former prime minister underwent a surgery for an eye problem, and was returned to Adiala jail the next day.
Salman Akram Raja, the secretary general of the PTI, stated separately that a petition has been submitted to the trial court asking for authorization to visit the party founder in prison.
Terming the rumors regarding PTI founder’s health alarming, Raja said Dr Asim inspected Imran in jail a year ago, and back then, he had no eye-related issue.
“A whole year has passed, no one knows what happened in the meantime,” he added.
Raja stated that he will deliver the memorandum to the Supreme Court on Friday at 10 a.m.
