Sri Lanka’s Independence Day represents solidarity and respect for the country: Zardari, President

On Wednesday, President Asif Ali Zardari stated that Sri Lanka’s Independence Day represents solidarity, patriotism, and tenacity.
President Zardari sent heartfelt congratulations to Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the administration, and the people of Sri Lanka on the country’s 78th Independence Day.
According to the president, Pakistan and Sri Lanka have a long-standing friendship that has persevered in the face of difficulties. He commended Sri Lanka for its positive contribution to fostering collaboration in South Asia and pointed out that it had worked closely with Pakistan’s military in the war on terror.
President Zardari apologized and said it regrettable that SAARC summits had been suspended for so long because of India’s position. He emphasized that cooperation between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is essential for both the resurrection of SAARC and South Asian regional security.
He went on to say that he hoped the fraternal ties between Sri Lanka and Pakistan will continue to grow in the years to come.
