On the World Day of Social Justice, the PM reiterates their commitment to inclusive growth.

As Pakistan observes the World Day of Social Justice on February 20 alongside the rest of the world, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing equality, inclusiveness, and human dignity on Thursday.

The prime minister stated in a statement released by his office that Pakistan and the international community were reaffirming their commitment to promoting social justice as a constructive and vital pillar of society.

In order to guarantee a strong social protection system, the prime minister emphasized this year’s topic, “Empowering Inclusion: Bridging Gaps in Social Justice,” which emphasizes the significance of thorough policymaking at the governmental level and meaningful engagement of all societal sectors.

He asserted that social justice was a shared and personal obligation rather than just an ideal. He continued by saying that the administration was still committed to creating a society founded on moral principles that guarantee administrative recognition, public awareness of rights, and efficient execution.

The prime minister emphasized that social justice and equality necessitated that all citizens have equal access to civic opportunities and a dignified existence, free from discrimination based on race, religion, or belief.

According to him, Pakistan has continuously backed international initiatives to advance social justice, defend human rights, and accomplish the Sustainable Development Goals as a responsible member of the international community. He pointed out that the nation was working to protect the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Pakistani Constitution while also upholding its commitments under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and international human rights treaties.

According to the prime minister, the government is working on a number of initiatives to reduce poverty, provide high-quality healthcare and education, empower women and young people, and provide good jobs for everyone.

“Policy measures are being pursued to support marginalized segments of society, strengthen the social protection system, and promote inclusive economic growth,” he said. He cited the government’s “Uraan Pakistan” National Economic Transformation Plan (2024–2029) and specific programs to give young people access to education and skills as important measures in this respect.

In order to eradicate all forms of discrimination and inequality, the prime minister urged all parties involved—provincial governments, civil society, the public and private sectors, social leaders, and citizens—to cooperate in advancing the ideals of social justice, solidarity, unity, selflessness, and tolerance in society.
