Twenty-five Sri Lankan students have arrived in Pakistan for higher education.

Twenty-five Sri Lankan students have come in Pakistan to undertake MBBS courses at prestigious medical institutes through the Allama Iqbal Scholarships for Sri Lankan Students.

The students were welcomed upon their arrival at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi.

These fully financed scholarships are components of the comprehensive Pak–Sri Lanka Higher Education Cooperation Programme, overseen by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.

This project allows students to pursue their medical education at esteemed schools, such as Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) Karachi and Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences (LUMHS), Karachi. Both colleges possess accreditation from the Sri Lankan Medical Council (SLMC), guaranteeing international validity of their degrees.

Alongside the freshly arrived cohort, more than 430 Sri Lankan students are presently enrolled in Pakistani colleges through this scholarship program, encompassing several disciplines such as Medicine, Engineering, Business Studies, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences.

All students have been chosen through a stringent and competitive process, in compliance with the entrance eligibility criteria for Pakistani higher education institutions. One hundred additional Sri Lankan students are set to come in Pakistan under the same scholarship program in the forthcoming weeks.
