Poet Syed Salman Gilani has died at the age of 74.

Esteemed poet and religious scholar Syed Salman Gilani succumbed to a lengthy illness in Lahore on Saturday at the age of 74.

Family sources indicated that Gilani had been receiving treatment at Sheikh Zayed Hospital for an extended period.

He occupied a prominent position in religious and intellectual spheres and was highly esteemed for his contributions to devotional and humorous poetry.

Gilani, a fervent proponent of the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat movement, was the progeny of esteemed religious figure Syed Amin Gilani.

Emulating his father, he devoted a significant portion of his work to subjects concerning Islam, the veneration of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and societal challenges, articulating them in a unique and captivating manner.

Gilani was particularly esteemed for his astute wit and sophisticated humor.
