A minister connects tensions in the Middle East to an increase in petroleum prices.

According to Attaullah Tarar, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, the Middle East’s tensions have made an increase in the cost of petroleum goods unavoidable.

Speaking on the fourth anniversary of the late former Pakistani president Rafiq Tarar’s passing at the provincial capital, Atta Tarar stated that the government is now facing difficulties due to the recent rise in oil prices worldwide.

He did, however, reassure the public that every effort is being made to guarantee that the cost does not fall too heavily on the average citizen and that the public is given the maximum amount of facilities.

Both petrol and high-speed diesel will now cost Rs55 per litre after the federal government authorised a large price rise for petroleum products. The new prices will take effect at 12:00 am and midnight.

Following the hike, high-speed diesel will now cost Rs335.86 per litre nationwide, while petrol will now cost Rs321.17 per litre.

Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s current deputy prime minister, presided over a high-level meeting in Islamabad that resulted in the decision. In the midst of continuous instability in global energy markets, the meeting’s main focus was on assessing the nation’s petroleum reserves and changes in oil prices worldwide.
