The Punjab government has decided to close down medical schools.

In response to the ongoing regional unrest and the petroleum crisis, the Punjab administration decided on Monday to temporarily close all medical educational institutions in the province.

From March 10 to March 31, Punjab’s medical universities, colleges, and nursing schools—both public and private—will be closed. An official notification has been released by the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department.

First-year and second-year MBBS students will participate in online classes and academic activities. But clinical attachments and third, fourth, and final-year MBBS classes will go on as normal.

The previously scheduled schedule will be followed for all medical checks.

It will be mandatory for nursing and allied health students to carry out their obligations in affiliated hospitals, and all teaching staff members will also fulfill their duties in the corresponding hospitals.

Institution heads have been instructed to make sure that the government’s directives are strictly followed.
