Despite reports of battle injuries, Iran’s new supreme leader is “safe and sound”: the president’s son

TEHRAN: Despite claims of an injury sustained during the conflict with Israel and the United States, Iran’s new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei is “safe and sound,” according to the Iranian president’s son on Wednesday.
“I learned that Mr. Mojtaba Khamenei was hurt.” I asked a few friends who were connected. Yousef Pezeshkian, a government adviser, wrote on his Telegram channel, “They told me that, thank God, he is safe and sound.”
Khamenei was referred to by state television as a “wounded veteran of the Ramadan war,” although the nature of his injuries was never made clear.
According to a maritime security service, an unidentified projectile struck a cargo ship in the vital Strait of Hormuz near Iran, starting a fire and forcing the crew to flee.
Several blasts sounded out across the Qatari capital Doha, AFP journalists said.
Israel strikes Beirut
According to state media, Israel launched its second attack on the center of the Lebanese capital since the beginning of the most recent conflict with Iran-backed Hezbollah, striking an apartment in central Beirut.
After the Israeli army issued a warning to leave, fresh Israeli attacks had earlier struck south Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut; according to Lebanese officials, almost 760,000 persons had been reported as displaced.
