The government declares the holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr.

In honor of Eid-ul-Fitr, the federal government declared public holidays on Sunday.

March 20 and 21 have been designated as official public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr, according to a notification released by Pakistan’s Cabinet Division with the prime minister’s assent.

According to the announcement, March 20 (Friday) and March 21 (Saturday) will be national government holidays. In the meanwhile, Sunday, March 22, is already a weekly holiday.

According to reports, Ramadan is expected to last for all 30 days this year, with the first Shawwal and Eid falling on Saturday, March 21. However, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will formally announce the final date.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Islamabad on March 19, although the moon won’t be visible on that day, according to Anjum Nazir, Deputy Director of the Meteorological Department. He claims that the moon will be born on March 19 at 6:23 AM Pakistani time and will only be around 12 hours old by sunset.

A 12-hour-old moon cannot be seen with the unaided eye, and even with a telescope, the moon can only be viewed when it is at least 14 hours old.

The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will make the official announcement, but the Meteorological Department indicates that Ramadan is projected to last 30 days this year. The first Shawwal may fall on March 21.
