PM instructs the Intelligence Bureau to examine how fuel-saving measures are being implemented.

A thorough assessment of the execution and results of fuel-saving programs across government agencies has been assigned to the Intelligence Bureau (IB). The bureau will evaluate efficacy, confirm compliance, and provide the Prime Minister with weekly updates on the implementation of these initiatives.

The monitoring system has been reinforced by a recent notification from the Cabinet Division, guaranteeing the rigorous enforcement of fuel conservation and austerity measures. The audit’s objectives are to guarantee responsibility, boost productivity, and optimize the advantages of fuel-saving measures.

According to officials, the project will help the government refine policies for better resource management and get insights into the efficacy of austerity measures.

The PM halves car fuel and cuts ministers’ pay.
Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistan, earlier declared a comprehensive set of austerity measures for both the federal and provincial governments in order to handle the country’s persistent economic problems and guarantee relief for the populace.

Fuel Limitations for Government Automobiles
For the next two months, all government departments will be required to reduce the amount of gasoline used in their official cars by 50%. However, ambulances and public transportation buses will not be subject to this requirement. Additionally, purchases of cars, furniture, air conditioners, and other non-essential things have been halted, and 60% of departmental vehicles will be removed from service.

Reductions in Salary and Suspensions
Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, has declared suspensions and pay cuts. Members of Parliament will see a 25% wage reduction, while cabinet members, ministers, advisers, and special assistants will not get their salaries for the following two months.

Two days’ salary would be withheld from senior officers in Grade 20 and above whose incomes exceed Rs300,000. This money will be used for public relief activities. Additionally, government agencies have been directed to cut all non-salary costs by twenty percent.

Office Operations and Remote Work
The government has mandated that teleconferencing and online meetings take precedence in an effort to save fuel, and just 50% of employees in the public and private sectors will report to work, with the exception of vital services.

With one additional holiday, offices will continue to be open four days a week. PM Shehabaz Sharif asserted that banks and vital industries like agriculture and industry are exempt from this. Outdoor gatherings have been prohibited, and official seminars, conferences, dinners, and Iftar parties will now take place on government property.

Measures in the Education Sector
Starting this weekend, all schools will have two weeks off. In order to maintain learning continuity, higher education institutions will start offering online courses right away.

A Warning to Profiteers and Hoarders
Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, also threatened to take severe legal action against those who hoard and profit from gasoline, diesel, and other necessities. To optimize their effectiveness, all provincial governments have been directed to execute these policies effectively.

In order to lessen the burden on citizens and ensure the effective use of public resources during the current economic crisis, the Pakistani prime minister stressed that these actions are temporary and preventative.
