To improve security, Pakistan would send Federal Constabulary to Balochistan.

The Pakistani government has made the decision to send the Federal Constabulary to Balochistan in order to contribute to the province’s peace and stability.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti jointly chaired a high-level law and order meeting in Islamabad, where the decision was made.

Participants in the conference, which was attended by senior officials from both federal and provincial institutions, discussed the general state of security in Balochistan.

The discussion also covered a number of important topics, such as measures to stop smuggling, action against hawala-hundi networks, extortion, and the repatriation of Afghan refugees.

The participants were informed by officials on current initiatives to enhance law and order around the province.

In order to support security activities and bolster regional stability, it was determined that around 3,000 members of the Federal Constabulary’s two wings would be stationed in Balochistan during the first phase.
