The government of Karachi cracks down on bus drivers

Bus companies in Karachi are being punished by the government for allegedly asking too much for their services before Eid al-Fitr 2026.
The move was made after the Secretary of the Provincial Transport Authority gave his report. Officials then told riders they would get back more than Rs.1.02 million.
Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi told the Deputy Commissioners and the Secretary of the Provincial Transport Authority to make sure the rules were followed carefully.
He told bus and stop workers to clearly show fare information and told officials to take action against people who are charging too much.
At bus stops, there will be desks where people can complain about their fares.
