British High Commissioner Ishaq Dar talks about the changing regional landscape.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar was visited on Tuesday by British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, who spoke with him on the changing regional landscape.

During the discussion, the deputy prime minister emphasized the urgent need for an early resolution of the crisis and emphasized that diplomacy and dialogue remained the only feasible road forward.

Ishaq Dar, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister, met with Jiang Zaidong, the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, earlier in the day in Islamabad. The two sides had a lengthy discussion about current regional and international issues as well as bilateral relations.

As both sides reviewed topics of shared interest and reiterated their commitment to strengthening cooperation, the meeting demonstrated the lasting strength of the Pakistan-China relationship, which is commonly referred to as a “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.”

Both officials looked at the wider regional environment throughout the talks, including quickly changing geopolitical dynamics and changing international circumstances. Rising tensions in the Middle East received special focus, with Dar emphasizing the critical need for communication and diplomacy to stop further escalation.
