Afghan FM: Kabul wants to discuss problems with Islamabad.

Afghanistan is eager to settle all disputes with Pakistan through communication and understanding, according to Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi.

Muttaqi made these comments over the phone with Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister of the United Arab Emirates, according to a statement released by the Afghan Foreign Ministry.

The topic of discussion included current changes in Afghanistan-Pakistan relations, the regional situation, ongoing concerns between Afghanistan and the United States, and bilateral relations. Additionally, Muttaqi reiterated Afghanistan’s commitment to resolving disputes through diplomatic engagement and thanked the United Arab Emirates for its successful mediation in gaining the release of an American prisoner.

The Afghan foreign minister warned that such actions pose a severe threat to regional stability and decried the apparent conflict between the United States and Israel against Iran. He praised the UAE’s patience and diplomatic stance while calling the escalation of the conflict in the area worrying and unacceptable.

Muttaqi underlined that Afghanistan, as a neighboring nation, wants any disputes to be resolved via peaceful discussion while discussing ties with Pakistan. Additionally, he stated that significant action has already been taken in this area and promised that Afghan land will not be utilized against Pakistan.

The UAE’s foreign minister, meanwhile, reaffirmed that escalating hostilities between Pakistan and Afghanistan are not beneficial to either nation and pledged that the UAE would keep working to reduce tensions.

Afghan Taliban forces attacked Pakistani border checkpoints on the evening of February 26, sparking recent fighting between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Pakistan responded by initiating “Ghazab Lil-Haq,” a campaign of retaliation.

Pakistan has often insisted that militant organizations, especially the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which conduct cross-border operations on Pakistani security forces, have safe havens provided by the Afghan Taliban administration. The continued tensions between the two neighboring countries have been exacerbated by Islamabad’s accusations of connections between these groups and India.
