Nine miners died in a landslide in Mardan.

At least nine miners perished and three others sustained injuries in a devastating landslide during a mining operation in the Rustam tehsil of Mardan on Tuesday.

Initial reports indicate that the tragedy occurred in the Palu Dheri region, where an abrupt landslide entombed multiple personnel beneath debris as they were conducting mining operations.

Rescue workers swiftly arrived at the location with seven ambulances, a disaster response vehicle, and an excavator to conduct relief operations.

In the initial phase, three injured personnel were extricated from the debris and transported to a local hospital. Subsequently, rescuers recovered the remains of nine miners from the rubble during an extended search operation.

Authorities have not yet ascertained the precise reason of the landslide, and further research into the situation is ongoing.
