In light of energy-saving measures, the government proposes early market closures.

Ali Pervaiz Malik, the Federal Minister for Petroleum, stated that as part of continuous efforts to control the economic situation, the nation’s government is thinking about closing markets early.

In an interview with a private TV station, he said that only restaurants and wedding venues would be permitted to stay up until 10 PM if the decision is put into effect.

The petroleum minister added that Muhammad Aurangzeb, the finance minister, will fly outside the next week to meet with the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

He stated that a thorough examination of the entire economic structure will be necessary and that the finance minister will brief these institutions on the extent of the economic shock the nation is currently experiencing.

Additionally, he stated that during hard times, the United Arab Emirates had deposited $3.5 billion in Pakistan and promised that all required procedures had been made in case any party asked for the return of its monies.

He added that local gas resources instantly began delivering between 400 and 500 MMCFD after the Qatari gas supply was suspended.
