Prices for cooking oil and ghee might increase by up to Rs. 150 per kilogram.

Due to growing production costs, ghee and cooking oil prices in Pakistan are predicted to rise by up to Rs150 per kilogram.

The expected increase might be between Rs. 100 and Rs. 150 per kg, according to the Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (PVMA).

According to a PVMA expert, ghee mills’ operating expenses have dramatically increased due to the recent spike in petroleum prices. Manufacturers are finding it challenging to maintain existing prices due to the significant increase in manufacturing and transportation costs.

The association has called on the government to establish a committee right away to look into ways to lower prices and help consumers.

Industry groups caution that the anticipated hike could put additional strain on households already dealing with inflationary pressures if prompt action is not taken.
