Balochistan requires eateries and stores to close early in order to conserve energy.

According to a letter from the Home Department, the Balochistan government has ordered restaurants, wedding venues, and markets to close earlier than normal as part of its energy saving initiatives.

The strategy is being carried out under the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and the order follows choices made during a meeting on fuel subsidies and energy-saving measures.

All markets and shopping malls must close by 8 p.m., according to the notification, although bakers, pharmacies, and tandoors are excluded. Marriage halls, banquet spaces, and wedding events—including those hosted in hotels and restaurants—must end by 10 p.m.; hotels and restaurants are also required to close at that time.

According to the Home Department, district authorities and law enforcement agencies are responsible for ensuring strict execution of these rules, which are intended to reduce the burden on the public while conserving energy.

These actions are being taken as a result of the continued tensions in the Middle East, which are driving up the cost of petroleum and energy globally. After the United States and Israel jointly attacked Iran on February 28, the crisis, which started more than a month earlier, intensified. Tehran retaliated by blocking the vital Strait of Hormuz, a vital conduit for oil exports, and attacking American bases in the Gulf.
