PM: The government will increase sports’ contribution to national development.

According to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the Pakistani government is dedicated to enhancing the role of sports in both national growth and the nation’s international representation.
“The government is paying close attention to increasing access to sports facilities, promoting sports at school and community levels, and increasing opportunities for athletes to train and compete at international levels,” he stated in a statement on April 6, International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.
He added, “As a shared value at the global level, sports promote mutual cooperation, determination and perseverance, and unity and solidarity between nations and societies. Today, Pakistan is celebrating the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace in a determined manner along with the international community.” These principles encourage the application of human energies for the advancement and prosperity of society as a whole.
“Sports, while developing individual capabilities, encourage a healthy lifestyle for youth, including female athletes,” he stated. Sports are unique in that they foster inclusivity based on equality and respect for one another.
Additionally, sports offer a good and upbeat atmosphere for addressing social issues and disagreements. With their abilities, diligence, self-control, and accomplishments in every sport, our athletes are a source of pride for the country. “National unity and individual performance are both reflected in on-field accomplishments,” he said.
“Today, I appeal to all relevant institutions, sports organizations, educators, and development partners associated with sports to work together for a future where every child and youth of Pakistan has safe, accessible sports opportunities,” he declared.
