CM Maryam discusses investment strategies with the Chinese delegation.

Leading Chinese businesses, including as Kunlun Group and Sunder Green Group, paid a visit to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday. They talked about wide-ranging collaboration in the province’s industrial development, energy, and vocational training sectors.

During the meeting, plans were discussed to send 50,000 students from Punjab to China for advanced vocational and industrial training aimed at strengthening technical skills and workforce capacity. Additionally, agreements were reached in principle to start solar panel manufacturing in Lahore through joint collaboration.

The creation of a 1,000-acre industrial area in Lahore, which is intended to serve as a significant center for industry and investment, was also approved in principle at the meeting.

Proposals to transfer technology for Punjab’s coal-based petrochemical product manufacture were also discussed; this could be a step toward more varied industrial energy use.

The proposed initiatives are anticipated to provide around 18,000 job possibilities throughout the province, according to information provided during the briefing.

Reiterating that the government’s focus is on fostering industrial growth through partnerships rather than direct company involvement, the CM promised both domestic and foreign investors full facilitation and institutional support. She highlighted the “Start Today” policy, which prioritises the prompt completion of investment and development initiatives in order to boost Punjab’s economy.

Chairman Muhammad Abid of Sunder Green Group, CEO Wang Jin Hunan Sheng of Inner Mongolia Coal Mine, CEO Zhao Gangbo of an investment firm, and top leadership from affiliated partner organisations, including Oasis, were among the delegation’s representatives.
