Iran is prepared to make a deal if the US makes a sincere offer: Ghalibaf

Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Baqher Ghalibaf, stated on Saturday that Iran was prepared to make a deal provided Washington delivered what he called a real accord and gave Iran its rights.

Soon after arriving in Islamabad, Baqher Ghalibaf told the media that Iran was amenable to negotiations but lacked faith in the United States.

He claimed that in the past, commitments made in talks with the US were broken. They have come for talks with optimistic expectations, he continued. He stated that if the US acknowledges Iran’s rights, we are prepared to come to an accord.

In the early hours of Saturday, an Iranian team headed by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqher Ghalibaf arrived in Islamabad for peace negotiations with the United States.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, the secretary of the defence council, the governor of the central bank, and a number of parliamentarians are among the high-ranking political, military, and economic figures in the delegation.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar welcomed the Iranian delegation, according to a spokesman for Pakistan’s Foreign Office. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir were also present.
