CM Punjab gives drainage projects a deadline of early June.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the chief minister of Punjab, has instructed authorities to make sure that all drainage projects are finished by June in order to avoid the rainy season.

The chief minister presided over a special conference when the design of WASA complexes in fifteen cities was approved. Additionally, she mandated 24-hour labour on ongoing sewerage and drainage projects.

Before the monsoon rains arrived, officials were told to make sure that rainfall drainage systems and sewerage lines were finished. It was mentioned at the conference that projects are in progress in Jhelum, Hafizabad, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, and Rawalpindi, and that work is moving quickly in places like Sargodha, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujrat, Okara, Jhang, Multan, and Sialkot.

The proposal calls for the installation of 189 kilometres of rainfall drainage pipelines and 2,265 km of sewerage lines throughout 15 cities. Nine subterranean storage tanks and 86 disposal stations will be built during the first phase.

It was also determined to build 752 kilometres of highways after the drainage operations were finished. Officer hostels will be built inside WASA buildings, and dashboards and mobile apps will guarantee real-time project monitoring.

In order to clean drains and enhance water flow throughout metropolitan areas, authorities also told the gathering that a massive de-silting program will be started prior to the monsoon.
