Iran reopens the Strait of Hormuz for commercial trade, and Trump thanks Pakistan.

Along with broader security and geopolitical developments in the Middle East, US President Donald Trump has made a number of extensive speeches expressing gratitude to Pakistan and a number of regional partners while claiming a significant diplomatic breakthrough over the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump congratulated Pakistan in social media posts, praising what he called their assistance in recent diplomatic efforts and calling its leadership “great.” Additionally, he thanked Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates for their “bravery and help” in promoting regional stability initiatives.

Declaring that Iran had agreed to guarantee that the Strait of Hormuz will “never again be closed or used” as what he called a “weapon against the world,” Trump called it a “great and brilliant day for the world.” He added that Iran was removing sea mines from the channel or had previously done so with US help.

Additionally, he emphasized that the development had nothing to do with Lebanon and declared that the Strait of Hormuz issue had been settled. In his speech, Obama stated that the United States will continue to engage independently with Lebanon and deal with the Hezbollah crisis, but he insisted that Israel would stop conducting strikes in Lebanon, calling such action “prohibited” by Washington.
