As international visitors get closer, Rawalpindi strengthens security.

Authorities in Rawalpindi have put the city on high alert and told all restaurants, parks, beauty parlours, markets, snooker clubs, gyms, retail malls, and Quetta hotels to close from midnight on April 18 till further notice.
Officials added that anyone who breaks the order will face serious consequences.
All boys’ and girls’ hostels in the municipal limits, even those connected to schools like Barani University, have been ordered to close until further notice. This is a big decision about security.
Police say that special security measures have been put in place because of the presence of foreign delegations in the city.
Barani University officials said that the main campus and all of its branches will stay closed from April 18 to April 26 for security reasons. There has been an official notice.
The police also sent notifications to hostel owners telling them to clear out all of their hostels by midnight and send the inhabitants back to their homes. Authorities said that if boys or girls are found staying in hostels during the shutdown time, they will be sent to court.
Earlier, a high-level meeting led by City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani looked over the security plans to make sure they were flawless.
Officials were told that there are more than 10,000 police officers on duty in the city, as well as more than 600 special pickets at important places. All ports of entry and exit are under surveillance
