Government officials let people work from home in Islamabad while they were on high alert for US-Iran negotiations.

Due to increased security measures, officials have told employees of government ministries, divisions, and federal institutions in Islamabad’s Red Zone and Extended Red Zone to work from home.

The orders come just as the second round of peace talks between the US and Iran is about to start on April 20, 2026. Officials said the main reasons for the decision were rigorous security rules and the entrance of foreign delegations.

The administration says that the Red Zone is totally closed off, and all areas around it are closed to regular traffic. There is only limited official movement allowed, and public, private, and heavy transport services, like buses and trucks, have been stopped until further notice.

The Pakistan Secretariat and other government agencies have told its employees to work from home to reduce traffic and make security arrangements easier.

The government and the Islamabad administration have put these precautions in place to make sure that the high-level diplomatic meetings are completely safe. People have also been told to stay away from unnecessary travel and choose different routes during this time.

As the situation changes and the conversations move forward, further updates are likely to come.
