Heatwave warning declared throughout Sindh as temperatures escalate

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted extreme temperatures throughout Sindh, cautioning of a potential heatwave in several regions of the province in the upcoming days.

The Met Office anticipates that the majority of regions will encounter hot, extremely hot, and arid conditions. From today until May 3, the central and upper areas may experience heatwave conditions, with temperatures increasing by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius over the usual.

Regions anticipated to be predominantly impacted are Jamshoro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, and Sanghar. Additional districts, including Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Sukkur, are anticipated to be affected by the heatwave.

The department has urged citizens, particularly children, women, and the elderly, to implement preventive measures. Individuals are advised to evade direct sunlight throughout daylight hours and augment water consumption to maintain hydration.

Farmers are urged to schedule wheat-related tasks according to current weather conditions, while livestock proprietors are advised to implement measures to save animals from severe heat.

In Karachi, elevated temperatures are anticipated to continue for the next three days. The maximum temperature is expected to fluctuate between 34°C and 36°C today, increasing to approximately 36°C on Wednesday and 37°C on Thursday, as per the Met Office.
