Pakistan shows support for victims of earthquakes and other disasters throughout the world.

By earthquakes and other natural calamities, while reaffirming its dedication to readiness and adaptability.
The prime minister stated in a statement released by the prime minister’s office that the day, which has been set aside by the UN, is both a reminder of the lives lost and an appeal to increase international collaboration in disaster risk reduction.
“Improved infrastructure, thorough planning, and broad public awareness are necessary to mitigate the devastating impacts of natural disasters,” he stated, emphasising the necessity of incorporating safety regulations into building procedures and developing early warning systems.
The prime minister emphasised the long-term effects of the 2005 Kashmir earthquake, which left almost three million people displaced throughout Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and claimed over 80,000 lives. He praised the citizens’ fortitude and solidarity in the wake of the catastrophe and called it a turning point in the nation’s history.
In order to improve coordination and response capability, he continued, Pakistan implemented significant institutional reforms after the disaster, including the creation of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
The authority currently supports preparedness activities by identifying high-risk areas using fault-line research, historical data, and geospatial technologies.
With a focus on equitable access to early warning systems and the construction of earthquake-resilient infrastructure, Prime Minister Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s alignment with international frameworks like the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030 and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction.
Strengthening community-level response capabilities, including disaster education into school curricula under the Pakistan School Safety Framework, and increasing the use of geographic information systems and satellite-based modelling are also national goals, he continued.
In order to create a safer and more resilient future, the prime minister urged increased international cooperation.
