Gujranwala Mass Transit system design is approved by Punjab

The Gujranwala Mass Transit System’s design was authorised at a crucial meeting in Lahore that was presided over by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. A thorough briefing on the project’s many features was also provided.

In order to provide inhabitants with easy and integrated public transportation options, the chief minister ordered feeder buses to connect every part of Gujranwala to the metro system.

Along with a principled approval for 17 to 19 kilometres of subterranean rail, she also accepted the project’s inclusion of two tunnel sections to ease traffic pressure.

The project will build a 31.5-kilometer transit system with 24 stops, including two underground stations, between Ghakhar and Aimanabad.

Depots will be set up in Gondlanwala, Chan Da Qila, and Garjakh.

According to officials, solar systems will be installed at every station and depot, and the system will be able to accommodate 2.6 million people. Alongside the project, a contemporary command and control center and a 62-kilometer drainage system will be built.

According to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the project’s completion would change Gujranwala’s transport culture and give locals access to a cutting-edge, superior travel system.
